Escape to beautiful Mid Wales to relax and unwind.
The Old Stores is a stunning Georgian house, in the heart of historic Montgomery. With two uniquely designed, deluxe guest rooms, retained period features alongside contemporary art and handwoven antique carpets, the house is full of personality and charm. The drawing room and courtyard garden are available exclusively for our guests to use. We are fully licensed, so if you fancy bubbles with your breakfast, a treat at the end of the day, or you are celebrating a special occasion, we have a selection of award winning Montgomery Wines available. Montgomery is located on the Shropshire-Welsh border against a backdrop of rolling hills. Outdoors there’s so much to do – explore castle ruins, country churches, Montgomery’s Thursday market, take a walk on Offa’s Dyke or a stroll along local footpaths.
Come to stay with us and indulge in a little luxury!
Two individually designed rooms with completely different characters, featuring original art pieces and vintage furniture.
Our beds come with snuggly duvets and Egyptian cotton sheets. The spacious bathrooms have rain showers, baths and luxury Welsh toiletries. So that our guests can fully relax and unwind we don’t have TVs in our rooms. All room rates include breakfast.
WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO US?
Supporting local businesses, celebrating Wales, and being environmentally mindful.
Sourcing quality ingredients from local farmers and suppliers including home-cured bacon from Phil at Morwens Montgomeryshire Meats, homemade sausages from local butcher Alan Davies, free-range eggs, milk from Dairy Dreams and bread from Amanda’s Bakery.
Celebrating where we are in the world: Wales! Our bedroom throws are handwoven at Melyn Tregwynt, the luxurious bathroom toiletries are from the small family firm of Cole & Co in Beaumaris, and the natural spring water is from Llanllyr.
We promise that we will try to reduce our carbon footprint, our use of plastic, and the impact on our beautiful environment as much as we can.
“The room was spotless. Beautiful white linen on the bed and thick fluffy towels. Felt totally Covid safe. Breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble.”
